Petrified Forest Field Trip

We learned about fossils from the Park paleontologist. Those are real bones on the left!

First steps: measure the dig area and divide it into smaller boxes.
Then start clearing the sand with trowels & brushes!

Next we map the dig site, drawing everything that is marked with red flags.

We decide that ancient people probably used this area to cook and make tools.

We can see the Painted Desert from where we had our picnic lunch.

We stop at Puerco Pueblo to see where the ancient Indians lived.

We see some really neat rock carvings, or petroglyphs.

Then we stop at the south end of the park and hike on the Giant Logs Trail.

We had a great time on our field trip. Thanks to all the people at the Park who made it so awesome, especially Ranger Sarah & her paleontologist friend. :)

ANNOUNCEMENTS

YOU HAVE ONE WEEK TO GET YOUR MISSING WORK TURNED IN... IF IT IS NOT TURNED IN BY TUESDAY, APRIL 27th YOU WILL NOT BE GOING ON THE FIELD TRIP!!! You will receive a list of your missing assignments on Monday.

Permission Slips for the field trip must be turned in by Thursday, April 22nd.

Book order money needs to be turned in by Friday, April 23rd.

No homework or spelling list this week because of AIMS testing.

Be sure to get a good night's rest, eat breakfast, and be to school on time this week! We have tests Monday-Thursday. If you are present for all your tests, TAKE YOUR TIME, do your best, and do not distract others then you will get to participate in Friday's Fourth Grade Fun Day!

The date for the writing and science tests has changed.

The writing test will be TUESDAY, APRIL 13th
& the science test has been moved to THURSDAY, APRIL 22nd

AIMS is coming!

AIMS TESTING:
April14 & 15 (Writing & Science)
April 19-21 (Reading & Math)

Make sure you are
AT SCHOOL EVERY DAY OF TESTING,
ON TIME, WELL RESTED, & have EATEN BREAKFAST.

You may bring a snack the week of AIMS but please don't bring hot Cheetos they make too much of a mess with their red dye. Save those for lunch! Try to bring something HEALTHY, it will make your brain work better! :)

If you don't have a snack to bring, that's okay. Miss Jaster has trail mix, raisins, and peanut butter to share for snacks that week. If you'd like some peanut butter bring something you could spread it on, like crackers or celery.
